Ferguson Mann Architects website

Ferguson Mann Architects are an architectural practice with a national reputation for award-winning architecture, urban design, conservation and creative regeneration. We originally built their website in 2019, and while it had served them well, the web has shifted a lot since then.

Design trends, page speed, accessibility and user experience have all moved on since the original build, along with the way people discover websites in the first place. This new iteration of the site has received a striking visual refresh, helping the client to present their work in a more confident and engaging way, at the same time as delivering a noticeable boost to performance, accessibility and visibility behind the scenes.

Visual design overhaul

The visual design was overhauled to deliver more confidence and accessibility. We introduced stronger contrast, more considered colour use and user-friendly font weights and sizes.

Movement also played a big role in the update. Autoplay looping video containers (including the one on the homepage) allow Ferguson Mann to showcase their work with motion straight away, giving visitors an immediate sense of the practice as soon as they arrive.

Content built for GEO

Under the surface, parts of the site were rebuilt using more modern techniques. Cleaning up the code helped improve page load speed and made the site more effective for search engines to understand and index. Whilst subtle, these changes make a real difference for usability and long-term discoverability.

This gives Ferguson Mann more control over how they explain their work and processes, while also helping the site surface more naturally in response to real questions – including those asked via generative tools like ChatGPT.

The results of this overhaul is a website that feels sharper, faster and ready for the future, whilst staying true to Ferguson Mann’s work and values. Check out their new website.
