Battle of Ideas branding material

Every year, the Institute of Ideas holds a debating festival at the Barbican called the Battle of Ideas – and we proudly create their branding material.

We started working with the IOI (Institute of Ideas) in 2014 and we continue to produce the material for the festival each year. We gave the Battle of Ideas a new brand identity, re-imagining the existing brand with use of contemporary typography and powerful colours. We came up with a pattern design that could be used across the branding material, and at all sizes, from A5 promotional pieces to the huge 9m wide banner suspended from the Hall Balcony at the Barbican.

A dynamic brand identity

In 2014 we designed a pattern and colour scheme for the festival. For each subsequent year we have changed this to refresh the identity and give unique personality whilst retaining the existing layout and format of the material.

One of the great things about the Battle of Ideas is the sponsorship the event receives, which means we get to work with a lot of logos. A page of full colour logos on a white background always looks great (as long as they’re perfectly aligned…).

Banners, flags, and other promotional material

We also create a number of supporting brand material for the event, including an array of pop up banners (two metres and three metres high), a nine metre wide banner that spans the entrance hall, and as well as pre-event promotional material.
