Over the past two years, we’ve been working hard to make our business better. We’ve updated policies and practices, built screening tools, improved operations, measured our environmental impact and mapped our decisions against Sustainable Development Goals. We’ve questioned everything, made changes and then repeated that process – and whilst we’re hugely proud of becoming B Corp Certified the work doesn’t stop here. This isn’t a “we’ve arrived” moment, it’s simply a checkpoint in an ongoing journey.

Why B Corp?
Becoming a B Corp means joining a globally recognised community of businesses. The B Corp Certified marque is a confirmation that this company acknowledges that the health of a company is linked to the wellbeing of people, communities and the planet – and it challenges our economy that still rewards short-term gain over long-term value.
We share B Lab’s belief that business should play a part in building positive systemic change (the “B” in B Corp stands for “Benefit for all”). For us, that means measuring and understanding our impact, making constant improvements and treating this certification as the start of the next phase, not the end of one. Design is a tool for change. Through our work we can lift the initiatives and campaigns of our clients, supporting their meaningful causes.
We’re a work in progress and we’re proud to admit it
Seeking perfection is what we do, we’re designers after all. But with our business we’ve had to accept that this specific project, the journey of Winter Design, is one we’ll never reach the end of. We’re forever looking to improve the way we do things and, inherently, every business, organisation, charity, person has a carbon footprint. You can roughly estimate yours using tools like the WWF’s footprint calculator.
Now that we’re B Corp Certified, what does this mean for you?
Whilst we’ve been committed to purposeful projects for over a decade, this accreditation will help us measure our impact and keep us accountable against B Corp’s globally recognised standards. We’ve never been one for making bold claims where things couldn’t be measured or traced, so our certification helps to provide evidence of what we’re doing. For our clients it means we will:
- commit our energy to projects with purpose
- continue to measure and reduce our environmental impact
- attract the highest calibre of industry professionals by being a great company to work with
- maintain our stance on being an ethical service provider

Do you measure your impact?
We measured our impact and translated the data into a visually engaging impact report (see it here), something that we also love helping our clients with. We’re also actively engaged in helping clients to understand and reduce their website’s carbon footprint, using tools like website carbon.
