We kicked off the web presence for Nord Development‘s ‘One Portwall Square‘ in Redcliffe, Bristol, with a smart and contemporary holding page. Designed by AHMM architects, One Portwall Square is a new, contemporary office development boasting a whole host of compelling features, including energy efficiency ‘A’ rating, natural ventilation, a large open-air terrace on every floor, as well as being just a five minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads station.
Above: the web page is of course fully responsive, with all content scaling to fit all devices.

We used black backgrounds, for impact and sophistication
We created an animated loading screen with a black background, and the logo in the centre. The use of a black ‘flood’ background can deliver a really impactful visual thanks to the high contrast with other elements. We used this in a few areas in the layout and it has become a core element in the One Portwall Square brand.
Web page layout design with variety
With a range of different messages to communicate, we felt it was important to create a range of different layout options to ensure the content would be presented in the most interesting and captivating format possible.
For a simple holding page design, this example actually includes a broad array of visual communication features, including:
- animated page load introduction
- full width imagery
- ‘media object’ text and image combination layouts
- a range of text formatting options
- illustration blocks in responsive columns
- partner logos and award logos
- responsive tables for specifications
- embedded floor plan
- custom map design
- register interest contact form
