How do we work?

Our process is broken down into 10 phases:

1. Listening to your requirements and understanding your needs

Following your initial enquiry we will review your brief if you have one, or if you don’t have one we’ll ask you a number of questions to determine what kind of website you need, with some key specifics that’ll enable us to provide you with an initial estimate.

2. Estimate

We strive to turn estimates around within 24 hours of receiving your brief or list of requirements.

3. Proposal

Once you’ve approved our estimate we’ll set up an initial meeting or call to discuss the specifics of the project in more detail, to determine the exact requirements. We’ll then put a detailed proposal together for you with a full breakdown of specification, costs and timescales.

4. Design phase

The fun part. We produce initial design visuals for you using a software programme called Adobe XD. The visuals are presented online so you can view them in the context of a web browser. We then listen to all comments, criticisms and feedback from you, and revise the design visuals accordingly. This next round of visuals will be presented to you in the same way as the first round. We repeat this process through the number of rounds of revisions we’ve agreed to in the proposal until the final design is signed off, ready for build. Please read about our web design services in more detail here.

5. Stop phase

Not all web design agencies will do this but we see this as a duty of care and responsibility to ensure projects remain on budget and stay within agreed timescales. During the design phase it is sometimes possible for new features to be added in following feedback and comments from the client. This phase allows us to check the design against the proposal to ensure they both align. During this phase we also discuss the design visuals with our developers to confirm feasibility for build, again to ensure the project stays on budget and on time. We do this because we know how important it is to keep you, the client, informed at every stage and communicate with you any concerns that arise before they are allowed to develop into problems later on in the project.

6. Build phase

Our developers will now build the website based on the design visuals. We’re a design first agency so we insist that the developers match the visuals to pixel-perfect standard. Our designers can and will spot a pixel out of place. The web platform we are wedded to is WordPress, the world’s most popular web platform. It’s an open-source platform and is extremely versatile, reliable and search engine friendly. The build outcome of all of our sites is a fully custom WordPress theme; we do not build websites using existing themes, templates, frameworks or page builders. Our web developers are seriously proficient and the builds they deliver are among the best in the WordPress community. You can read more about our WordPress web development services here.

7. De-bugging phase

When the build is finished the de-bugging phase begins. This is a process of cross-browser testing the new website to ensure all features and elements work as designed on all supported web browsers and devices.

8. Content phase

The build is now complete and it’s time to get the rest of the content into the website. We work with you to ensure your content is prepared correctly for web, including key search engine optimisation (SEO) insights and recommendations. We populate the site for you so that when it’s time for you to view the finished product, it looks and feels perfectly complete.

9. Training phase

We provide training to all clients on how to use the WordPress content management system (CMS). Every build we deliver receives fully tailored user accounts for the client, providing a user friendly and intuitive experience to make content editing a breeze. The client will usually spend some time making adjustments to the content on the site before giving us the go ahead to go live.

10. Go live phase

When the content is ready we begin the process of going live. Cookies banners are set, Google Analytics tracking codes are added, cross browser testing happens again and the site is published to the live server. When the site is sitting comfortably on the live server, we switch the domain name to point to the new website and it goes live, with zero downtime.

Ongoing web hosting & maintenance

We like to look after our clients going forward following the delivery of their new website. Our managed hosting service is not only highly competitive but is also extremely beneficial to ensure the health of the website into the future. Read more about our managed web hosting service here.
