Wondering where to begin with a web design agency? Here’s a few common questions.
What should I ask before hiring a web design agency?
You can ask whatever you like! About our process, who’ll actually work on your project, how many rounds of revisions are included, how to manage your content once it’s built. A good agency will answer all of this clearly before you sign anything – which is exactly how we work.
What's the difference between a web design agency and a freelancer?
A freelancer usually works alone, covering design and build themselves which often more affordable, but with less capacity if something changes or a deadline is tight. An agency like us brings a full team: design, development, project management and ongoing support, all working to one process.
Who owns the website once it's built?
You do. Once your project is complete, the website and all of its content all belongs to you, however the IP of the source code belongs to original author of the code, whether that is the plugin or the web design agency that built it.
If you’re looking for ongoing support, we manage WordPress sites through our Hosting & Maintenance, which you can find out more about here.
How much does it cost to get a custom WordPress website designed and built?
The price range for a new website is huge, depending on whether you’re working with an individual freelancer or a multi-national agency. It’s not always easy to know what you’re comparing, but this is how we do all websites:
- We deliver a bespoke design, created from scratch, with three rounds of revisions (more if needed, at extra cost)
- We deliver a custom built WordPress theme (we do not use any page builders, frameworks or pre-made templates)
- We deliver a content management system that ensures all content on the site editable by you, with ample flexibility and future-proofing
- We deliver a range of custom built flexible content editing blocks created using Advanced Custom Fields or Gutenberg meaning you can create varied content.
- We work with you long term to keep the site healthy and add new features if and when you need them.
Our fees are tiered based on the complexity of the site, as below:
Simple websites
Great for start-ups and brands who don’t need lots of functionality or complexity. These sites will typically consume 40+ hours of design and 80+ hours of development.
From £15,000 +vat
Mid-level websites
Suitable for many established brands. These sites will have a few intricate aspects. These sites will typically consume 60+ hours of design and 100+ hours of development.
From £20,000 +vat
Complex websites
Where you require a larger range of intricate features. E-commerce websites fall into this category. These sites will typically consume 80+ hours of design and 120+ hours of development.
From £25,000 +vat
Do web design agencies build environmentally friendly websites?
Yes, but sadly not all of us. We’re one of a growing number who design with sustainability in mind. As a certified B Corp, we build lean, efficient sites: optimised images, minimal code, and low carbon hosting choices, all aimed at keeping page weight and energy use down. A lighter site also tends to load faster, which helps both visitors and search rankings.

Ongoing web hosting & maintenance
We like to look after our clients going forward following the delivery of their new website. Our managed hosting service is not only highly competitive but is also extremely beneficial to ensure the health of the website into the future. Read more about our managed web hosting service.
